Roberta French and her son Douglas French have 4 principal business operations:

1) Caballeros and Scorpion Mezcal
2) Contemporary Oaxacan Art Brokers
3) Telas OLE S.A. de C.V.
4) San Felipe del Agua Trailer Park

Roberta is an Engineering graduate from MIT and has given 10 years service as the US Consular Agent in Oaxaca (pronounced "wa-Ha-ka"), Mexico. When Douglas brought his small (200 ton) custom design textile production factory from the San Francisco bay area in 1985 they both began to make wonderful fabrics and textile products. As master weavers their basic philosophy is to make high quality, beautiful fabrics without a detrimental effect on the environment. This is sustainable production that is virtually pollution free. Principals of honesty, integrity and fairness are a keystone in all their dealings with customers as well as the indigenous farm workers and employees. They pay fair, decent wages and charge moderate prices. Some previous customers for their interior fabrics include Holiday Inn and Camino Real.

They then got the ball rolling in 1995 with a line of handmade mezcal called "Encantado", the first super-premium mezcal to be shipped to the US. Doug was working as the Head of Production and Quality Control and over a period of 8 months got 6 tractor-trailers shipped to the US. In this atmosphere they have had a thorough education in high quality mezcal production and with this experience they then teamed up with Paul Pugh as their US partner who owns a warehouse in Terra Bella, California. This allows them to make their own mezcal and that of other companies available for delivery from a US shipping point.
